The best (and unique) simulator of medieval architecture

The world of Early Access games on Steam is beginning to have two dominant sub-genres: the survival games and those involving construction. Medieval Engineers, as its name indicates, belongs to the second category. But, what are the secrets of this “medieval architecture simulator” which has already attracted so many users? Get on board this time machine with us and let’s find out!

The Middle Age is waiting for you!

Medieval Engineers combines the construction of medieval infrastructure from the as well popular Besiege (another Early Access game) and the freedom of action from Space Engineers, which is a game from the same developing company (Keen Software House).

Your mission in Medieval Engineers is to design, build and maintain a medieval fortress, without forgetting its defense/attack equipment inspired on real military technology of that age (later on we will explain the reason why). However, do not take the term “fortress” literally, since you can also build cities, castles, mining complexes…

In spite of having an Early Access format, Medieval Engineers already offers you huge creation and construction freedom. You can have a great time creating your own kingdom or learning the rules of the game to break them afterwards with a new idea which the game developers never suspected that could become true.

But the best is coming up now: the barbarians can show up at any time and destroy all your creation. The physics system in Medieval Engineers is so realistic that you will be amazed by the destruction, even by that of your own fortress! The future massive sieges appear really promising.

Future sieges? Exactly: really exciting contents will be arriving soon. Medieval Engineers promises new updates on a weekly basis. In the near future two modes will be added to the game: Multiplayer (think about one to one sieges) and Survival (currently you have infinite resources; the challenge, for the moment, is to exploit your creativity).

A successful formula

Medieval Engineers has the same control cons as the vast majority of Early Access games: you must discover by yourself how the game works and which is the specific function of each key. Good news is that you already have access to very useful guides in the Medieval Engineers group directly inside Steam.

We cannot say the same about the graphics: despite its Early Access nature, Medieval Engineers is visually impressive. And the best of all is that you donĀ“t need to have a powerful PC to enjoy them.

Medieval Engineers is currently succeeding because its concept (building and destroying) is intended for the vast majority of Early Access users. But let us be honest: how could anyone resist the opportunity to become a great medieval architect during the day and be a cruel besieger at night? We predict a great future for this game.
