Malayalam Hear2Read Voice: Text To Speech App
Malayalam Hear2Read Voice is a male voice database for the Hear2Read Indic Text To Speech (TTS) App. This app allows users to read Malayalam text using the TTS App. Once installed, the TTS App learns about the voice database, which is then used to generate synthetic speech. However, if the voice App is deleted, it will also be removed from the list of available voices in the Indic TTS App.
This is the first release of the Malayalam Hear2Read Voice App, and it has received feedback from beta testers regarding some areas that need improvement. The pronunciation of certain letters, such as TA and TI, is soft, which can make it difficult to understand. However, listeners are generally able to comprehend the word within the context of the sentence being spoken. Additionally, numbers from 901 to 999 are not spoken correctly, including higher numbers that end in 9xx, such as 1998.
If users come across any other incorrect or difficult-to-understand pronunciations, they are encouraged to send an email to It is important to note that posting these issues as review comments may not receive a response from the developers, as they are limited in their ability to address reviews.
It is worth mentioning that the Malayalam Hear2Read Voice App does not currently speak letters as they are being typed using a Malayalam keyboard. Instead, it speaks complete words after the user has typed a space denoting the end of the word. Additionally, the app converts text to speech based on the understanding of the text alone, without considering the meaning of the sentence. This results in a lack of end-of-sentence modulation and speech that may sound passive or flat without proper intonation.
