Long War of the Chosen – An Honest Review
Long War of the Chosen (XCom Mod) is a fan made mod for XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. It attempts to make missions more engaging by using some elements from the base game’s modding community. For example, instead of just being a straight-forward mission where you have to protect a squad from X terrorists, it becomes a little more fun when things start to get more complex and your goal is to send out multiple squads to find the data that you need, which can also come from satellites. This mod was created by Team LWOTC, who is leading people who are into modding the game for years now.
For those who have tried the mod so far, Long War of the Chosen provides a lot of content that is updated every time patches are released. For the newcomers, it has been designed primarily as a perk and abilities add-on, however, it has a very interesting mission structure, especially when you take into consideration the multiple squad missions that you will have to accomplish over the course of the expansion pack’s duration. You start with a few generic missions, and after reaching level 10 you can choose to join a squad and go on a mission based on your preference. There are five available squad members for you to choose from: Chipper, Grunt, Soldier, Scout, and Grenadier.
Some of these squad members will have custom talents and skills, while others will be vanilla and preset, meaning that you can’t mix and match them. Some of them will be unlockable too, meaning that you will have to pay to unlock certain perks, but there are still a lot of options to make the game more interesting and not just about the leveling. Long War of the Chosen provides a good balance between perks and abilities, and even allows you to mix and match your characters at your own pace, something that not all mods can do. These are only a few of my thoughts about this great mod, make sure to check out the official site for more details and all of the information you could ever need.
