LocalCast for Chromecast: Stream Webvideos and Local Content
LocalCast for Chromecast, developed by Stefan Pledl, is a lifestyle app that allows you to stream web videos, local videos, music, and pictures from your iPhone, iPad, iPod, NAS, DLNA/UPnP, Google Photos, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a webpage. With this app, you can cast your content to Chromecast, Apple TV, Smart TV, Nexus Player, Amazon Fire TV, Sonos, Xbox 360, Xbox One, or other DLNA devices. The app also lets you browse web pages within the app and stream any video found on the page to your TV.
The app offers a Pro version that can be used for five casts, after which you need to purchase a subscription. However, please note that the Chromecast supports only a few formats, and videos stored on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod will be transcoded automatically. To play videos from other sources, the Chromecast supports containers like mp4, mkv, 3gp, and m4v, but these containers can use different codecs. Also, internal subtitles inside the video container do not work yet; you need to use the integrated Opensubtitles.org search to add subtitles manually.
