Find jobs and maximize your professional network from your mobile device
LinkedIn, the mega-popular social network for professionals, brings its website in the form of a slimmed down and sleek app.
The industry standard
Lots of people today (this writer included) use or have used LinkedIn to network or find a job. The site has carved out its niche as a Facebook for professionals. You can connect with members, apply for jobs, and find more info about companies on it.
LinkedIn also has its own version of the Facebook Newsfeed, called Home. Like Newsfeed, it shows recent activity from your connections including status updates and shared links.
One of LinkedIn’s most touted features, Pulse, compiles original articles from LinkedIn with stories from newspapers such as USA Today. Much like Facebook, the articles from Home and Pulse can be liked and commented on.
As good as the web version?
I’m pleased to report that anything you can do on the web version, you should be able to do in the app. Tapping the LinkedIn logo or swiping to the right brings out a menu with access to popular LinkedIn features such as your profile, connection requests, and companies. There’s a handy feature located in the menu that allows you to create shortcuts to important pages/
You can also search or write a new status update by tapping on the appropriate button at the top of the screen.
A must have for companies and job seekers
Whether you want to grow your professional network, keep in touch with colleagues, or find a new job, LinkedIn’s app is a great utility with a clean design and simple interface.
