A fan-made alternate story for Life is Strange

Life is Strange: Aftermath is a free simulation title created by indie developer Retro Zone Studios. It’s a visual novel that features a unique fan-made story based on the events of the first Life is Strange game. More specifically, it explores the possible aftereffects after finishing the game.

The narrative in Life is Strange: Aftermath directly correlates to the ending of the first Life is Strange. It proposes some very intriguing questions and scenarios that could have taken place after the tragic ending. This demo of sorts offers a preview for players to experience themselves.

What if

The first Life is Strange’s story reached a momentous climax that gave Maxine Caulfield an impossible decision to make—sacrifice the people of Arcadia Bay or the one she loves. Life is Strange: Aftermath essentially explores what would happen next after sacrificing Chloe. It ponders on things like how Maxine would cope with her loss or if she can move on and meet someone, just to name a few.

The game’s opening chapter features more than 20,000 words for its narrative and dialogue. It was also built with custom-made CG utilizing over 22 sprite types for its art style and presentation. You will get to experience new branching storylines and witness the effects of your decisions on the various interactions you’ll have as you help Maxine get through a difficult time in her life.

It even offers you a brief rundown if you haven’t played the original game yet. As previously stated, what you’ll be playing and experiencing is just the first chapter of what the full game will be. It is still in the early stages of development and will see more changes as more updates roll in. You can keep up with the news via its official itch.io page.

Life gets stranger

In a nutshell, Life is Strange: Aftermath is a game for those who were left wanting and wondering by the end of the first Life is Strange game. It explores plenty of “what if” scenarios that the original never really touched on. If you’re of the same mind and opinion, this fan-made title is well worth checking out. Highly recommended.
