Souls-like narrative RPG platform
The Lies of P is a single-player action game based on the famous tale of Pinocchio. However, this 3D RPG is set within a dark and brooding world that puts an eerie spin on the classic children’s tale. The main goal is to navigate through dangerous environments in order to find Pinocchio’s master Geppetto.
The Lies of P is considered to represent a Souls-like game in terms of an emphasis on environmental storytelling and high levels of difficulty. Therefore, it is similar to other platforms, including Thymesia and Elden Ring.
Set within a Belle Époque atmosphere
While most players will be familiar with the story of Pinocchio, few would have expected such a dark turn in terms of the plot line. Immersed within a city full of unknown dangers and horrors waiting to emerge, little help will be encountered along the way. The Lies of P takes place in 19th-century Europe, so a number of Victorian elements are present.
These serve to provide truly dark undertones, and when combined with an air of mystery, the original tale of Pinocchio has been transformed into a noir masterpiece. Although the final goal is to become human, this is accomplished in a surprising way. The character will be required to constantly lie if they wish to make progress. Your choices also play an important part in determining how the story will unfold.
Players also have the ability to switch Pinocchio’s parts in order to strengthen his combat abilities or even perform special actions to help them out in their travels. Weapons can also be combined in different ways to create even more powerful tools. Take note, however, that the game requires a 64-bit processor and operating system in order to run smoothly.
A far cry from the classic children’s tale
The Lies of P immerses players within an unrelenting environment that requires wit, skill, and a fair amount of combat. While the system requirements can be quite steep, they can easily be brushed off given the thrilling and well-fleshed-out experience that this RPG brings. The numerous plotlines you can uncover also grant hours upon hours of gameplay for you to explore.
