Free RPG inspired by Hong Kong’s Yuen Long Attack

Legacy of Datura is a 2D adventure game developed by Mighcty for PC that plays out in two distinct worlds: a modern style and a medieval style. In this role-playing game, you will take on the role of Cyrus, an ordinary secondary student who falls into a medieval magical world after an explosion in an alleyway that he visits often. The storyline and characters are purely fictional—however, the game is hugely inspired by one of the major protests that had happened in Hong Kong in 2019: the Yuen Long Attack. You can fully experience this game for free. 

Short demo game

This demo game offers approximately 15 minutes of playtime. Within that period, you will be able to do tons of interesting activities such as puzzle-solving, making choices through both speech and action, and various fights including boss battles. Your adventure in this role-playing game will begin once you get back to your own world and get off the train after your school detention.

Along with other passengers, you will be surrounded by a huge amount of thugs and you have to successfully do missions to see the conclusion of the game. You will notice that all of the missions presented in this game are highly inspired by the historic Hong Kong protest however, many details were tweaked to fit in the game’s universe. For instance, the player’s capability to use magic to protect civilians is a game mechanic.

Legacy of Datura is an extremely fun and enjoyable game. However, considering that this is just a demo version, there are obvious enhancements that need to be done to further improve the game. The player’s health in this game doesn’t regenerate and is easily depleted thus, increasing the health or adding a regeneration feature will be a great idea. Moreover, the powers here are quite weak, so increasing its capacity will make the game even more fun.

Fun but can still be improved      

Legacy of Datura is an enjoyable and exciting adventure RPG. It actually lets you get a glimpse of what various events that had happened during the momentous Yuen Long Attack of 2019, as the missions provided here are highly inspired by it. However, there are a few areas of improvement that are suggested in order to provide the best gaming experience, even in a short playtime.
