Go down to the labyrinth to treasure-hunt
Labyrinth of Legendary Loot is a free fantasy role-playing video game wherein you can tackle puzzle-centric dungeons. Developed by Dominaxis Games, this roguelike dungeon crawler offers a turn-based and tactical combat system, procedurally generated floors, and permadeath. It’s much more simplistic and shorter than most RPGs but is still just as fun. This game uses a keyboard and mouse but also supports any type of gamepad.
Almost puzzle-like in nature
Labyrinth of Legendary Loot’s gameplay mechanics is pretty straightforward. Set in a top-down view of the grid map, you move your character in four directions and whenever you hit something that isn’t the wall, you automatically either attack it or interact with it. This game employs a literal turn-based combat system that relies on movement—anything you do consumes time, making enemies act in tandem with you and enabling your mana to passively regenerate.
You start off with only a sword. Your goal is to find the stairs on each floor and keep descending. The stairs also act as your savepoint and health and mana replenisher so it’s good to run towards it when in critical danger. Each room will usually have a few enemies and perhaps some equipment that will grant you combat skills. You can enhance and enchant these by using up silver coins or using the anvil.
The game presents a unique challenge as all of your movements will make enemies attack. You need to puzzle out how to damage them and survive to get to the next room. You can either do elaborate steps and use corners to bait them to a more vulnerable position, use the explosives in some rooms, use some of the breakable objects as shields, or simply make use of your own skills.
Use everything in your arsenal
Labyrinth of Legendary Loot is a highly engaging dungeon crawler RPG. You can use the environment to your advantage and use enemy attacks against other monsters in the room. While the difficulty can pretty scale high even on Easy Mode due to the mobs quickly respawning, it’s still a fun challenge to attempt—especially with the threat of permadeath and the bigger rewards waiting down below. This is a highly recommended game for RPG lovers.
