Co-op action multiplayer game
Killsquad is an action game developed by Novrama. It is a co-op game that blends twin-stick shooter and hack-and-slash with a drop of character customization and progression. Here, you will journey to five planets filled to the brim with enemies you need to annihilate.
Killsquad is a mission-based game that you can play as a group of four or solo. There are also five mercenary classes that you can play as you complete your missions. Players must note, however, that there is no messing in this game. There are no long cutscenes and tutorials to take up your time.
What is the game about?
In Killsquad, you take on missions and journey through five different planets. As mentioned, each planet is filled with enemies that you need to defeat. Missions, referred to as contracts, often have a single objective to accomplish for you to succeed. However, the mission structure is very standard and not at all revolutionary. It could be hunting and taking out a boss or escorting a payload.
As mentioned, the game is designed to be co-op. However, you can play it solo. The gameplay is challenging. Most of the enemy attacks are telegraphed, allowing you an opportunity to react. However, things can get hectic as there are lots of enemies on screen. In most cases, the fights can be challenging and unique. It can even get more difficult as you play later levels or play solo.
Completing missions will reward you with credits and gear. The gears come in the form of weapons, prototype items, talismans, support items, and consumables. Outside of gears, you also grow in power by investing skill points into your classes. These skills often make your abilities more powerful. However, you will find that some gears are unexciting. Moreover, the aesthetic of the whole game is fairly generic compared with other titles.
Should you play it?
All in all, Killsquad is an action RPG worth checking out if you are into frenetic shooter games. The gameplay is entirely skill-based, fast-paced, and challenging. You can even play it solo or with your buddies. However, you will find the mission design a little lackluster. Some of the rewards are also a little unexciting. Nevertheless, you can still have a blast if you are up for a grind.
