Row your way through a kayak adventure
Kayak VR: Mirage is an exciting racing game that takes you through numerous fantastic sceneries filled with different types of wildlife. This indie title from Better Than Life allows you to race against time and reach checkpoints, however, a more casual mode is available where you can simply roam around and take in the views.
Kayak VR: Mirage is similar to games like Spider-Man: Homecoming – PS VR PS4 and Job Simulator, which both require the use of a VR headset. You also have the option to use your controller as a paddle by attaching it to a mount.
Highly advanced graphics with a realistic feel
Players will first be placed in a pool when the game starts, where you will be able to learn how to control your kayak and practice moving around. Once you’ve completed this tutorial, you’ll finally be able to explore a variety of locations based on different locations around the world. These stunning places showcase different times of the day as well as a number of weather conditions.
Kayak VR: Mirage makes use of real-life physics to perfectly capture the feel of a kayak on the water. You will be able to customize your kayak and accessories to your liking by unlocking items. For an additional challenge, try to climb the leaderboard and go up against players by finishing races as quickly as possible and beating their best times.
However, once you’re satisfied with your score and after you’ve explored all the locations, the gameplay gets quite repetitive. There aren’t too many other things to do once you’ve completed the aforementioned objectives and there are no side quests or mini-challenges, either. Additionally, the game requires a minimum of 16 GB of available space on your device to download it, which is admittedly quite sizable.
Exciting premise but lacks content
If you happen to be the type to explore as much of a game’s content in one sitting, Kayak VR: Mirage will become repetitive over time. However, with an immersive experience that makes use of high-quality graphics and lifelike physics, even the high storage space requirements can be forgiven. Using a controller attached to a mount also adds to the experience and gives you a good workout, as well.
