Transport yourself into the world of RWBY

JPDE2 – ADAGIO OF DARKNESS is a free role-playing game based on the RWBY animated series. In this fan-made game, you will be able to interact with some of your favorite characters, explore the world of Remnant and battle against enemies that come your way.

The story of this game follows its predecessor, JPDE, but it does not follow the same format. JPDE2 – ADAGIO OF DARKNESS makes use of a conditional turn-based battle format that’s inspired by FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster. It is also currently under development so the full game is yet to be released.

Build your best team

There are a lot of new features available in JPDE2 – ADAGIO OF DARKNESS that fans of the first installment can look forward to. While both games feature a substantial plot, this sequel allows you to explore a 2D pixel map and meet different characters. You’ll also be able to battle enemies with collectible items that you can pick up or unlock along the way.

In order to defeat stronger enemies, you’ll need to upgrade your suit. You can also customize your team by choosing your best fighters. You can add up to four members to your team and rotate between the characters you have. The controls are also easy to get the hang of, so you’ll have no trouble battling mobs even at the very start of the game.

Its battle animations, however, are admittedly quite rough. After choosing to make a move during battle, there is a slight delay before it is actually done. The map also doesn’t show which locations have enemies, so you’ll suddenly end up entering a battle without meaning to. This gets quite repetitive as well, especially when a location has multiple points with hidden enemies one after the other.

Great potential for a small game

While JPDE2 – ADAGIO OF DARKNESS isn’t quite smooth in terms of animation, it has a promising start that fans of the RWBY series will grow to love. With its compelling story and exciting combat, there’s still a lot for you to look forward to. Seeing as it is still a developing game, there is a lot of room for it to grow, as well.
