Additional content for Total War: Kingdoms
JLMPs Vanilla Kingdoms 2022 Mod is a free-to-use game utility that improves on the original content from the real-time strategy (RTS) classic Medival II: Total War: Kingdoms. Unlike most mods, this one doesn’t drastically change the original game. It adds a few scripts and animation for existing factions, plus fixes for most bugs.
If you prefer the vanilla version, but with fewer problems, then JLMPs Vanilla Kingdoms 2022 Mod is your perfect add-on. However, different gaming experiences are available with Wrath of the Norsemen Mod or the Roar of Conquest Mod.
More fixes and features
JLMPs Vanilla Kingdoms 2022 Mod appeals to players who are looking to enjoy Total War: Kingdoms without deviating too much from the source material. It’s still the same medieval-themed game, but with added functionalities. For starters, you now have access to 26 factions, most of them receiving minor fixes in terms of animation times and interaction scripts. They now have fair and nearly-similar responses to in-game actions such as garrisons.
For those who have completed the original campaigns, this mod adds two new campaigns: one spanning 1236 to 1600 AD and another from 1200 to 1600 AD. It covers a total of 41 new regions and 12 areas of recruitment that allows you to enlist a total of 74 units for your own team. There are also slight changes to certain techs, such as the introduction of heraldry provincial titles.
While it might be the peak vanilla upgrade mod players are looking for, it, unfortunately, remains plagued by a number of issues. For example, certain antivirus software might report a false positive from the mod package. Other players have also reported their games crashing upon loading the mod. Whether these are dependent on the version of the game remains to be confirmed.
Good mod but with issues of its own
Essentially, JLMPs Vanilla Kingdoms 2022 Mod remains a highly recommended mod for Total War: Kingdoms. As mentioned, it tries to retain the original gameplay and aesthetics, unlike other mods that basically create new games from the vanilla version. From additional units to campaigns, everything feels like home, especially for fans of the game. Still, while it fixes issues from the original version, it comes with issues of its own.
