J7Z – an excellent archiver for people who know what they want

J7Z is an alternative user interface for 7-Zip, the efficient and popular free file archiver.

If you want to compress or extract files quickly and easily, J7Z is the app for you. Using this program couldn’t be simpler – pick Create or Extract and fill in the necessary information. You can add a password, pick between several different compression algorithms, ratios and volumes, run a test to make sure everything’s the way you want it and, usefully, have the app close automatically after finishing.

J7Z does what you want rapidly and with a minimum of fuss. Although not fancy, the interface is user-friendly and can be customized with a selection of skins. There’s no offline help, but as J7Z is an open-source app, there’s an active, helpful online community that you can turn to for help. It’s also unlikely you will have many problems in the first place.

What J7Z lacks in options and looks, it makes up for in speed and high compression ratios. If you want file archiving with no bells or whistles, this is undoubtedly the app for you.

Basic but lethally effective, J7Z is a great file archiver.
