View and edit multiple image formats

IrfanView is a photo viewer and editor that’s been around for a long time and seen countless improvements since its inception. IrfanView’s creator, Irfan Skilijan, has released over 70 versions, so you can expect the program’s toolkit to be competitive.

Well-known programs like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom excel at photo enhancement. However, there are times when a straightforward and easy tool is all that is required to improve your picture.  IrfanView is a simple but powerful tool for enhancing any digital image. The app will render files for your blog or batch-scan documents and produce clearer, lighter, and sharper images.

What is IrfanView used for?

IrfanView is a photo viewer and editor that allows for more robust image browsing than most operating systems’ default image viewer while still enabling photo editing (and batch editing), such as red-eye correction, cropping, and inserting borders, among other typical tasks. IrfanView has improved over time to become much better for its intended purposes.

When viewing pictures, you can seamlessly zoom in and out, and the picture will resample to have the best possible viewing image at any zoom level. In the same way, you can resize images indefinitely. You can apply a range of filters or corrections, and you can do even more with plugins.

The interface of IrfanView has fallen behind the times. The menus are large and challenging to use for a regular person. The image editor is the most visible feature; if you use the software to open an image, you’ll see the bottom status bar right away, giving you crucial details about the image, such as the pixel size, bits per pixel (BPP), percent zoom, disk size, and current memory space.

Do I need IrfanView?

If you want more information about images, Irfanview provides all the details of an image. Simply click the ‘i’ icon, which stands for ‘image information.’ It contains a wealth of information such as the file’s name, path, directory index compression process, DPI resolution, colors in BPP, number of unique colors per image, and much more.

These specifics allow you to see any changes you’ve made to the file, which is useful when batch processing image data. When you need to adjust the light, contrast, tint, gamma level, or other properties of a batch, use the image details function. One of the first programs to allow multiple GIF, TIFF, and ICO files was IrfanView. It will now read and save over 130 different multimedia formats.

The TWAIN format stands out as file support that allows you to retrieve images from printers, digital cameras, and even video graphics cards connected to your computer. If it wasn’t enough, the IrfanView also has plugins for viewing other file types, extensions, and formats. Installation would be a breeze if you have the right operating system.

Simple straightforward photo editor

You can avoid installing more third-party applications by being able to access a variety of different formats, whether they’re natively supported files or plug-ins. Most importantly, IrfanView’s swift yet lightweight form makes it the editor of choice for both new and experienced users.
