心の内部を舞台にしたパズル・探索ゲーム
Illusion: A Tale of the Mind is a puzzle game where the player takes on the role of a young girl named Emma, who is trapped inside the mind of a mad man. As Emma, the player must traverse the world inside the fractured mind, which turns out to be a place of strange beauty.
The most obvious comparison to draw with this game is that of Alice: Madness Returns, as the themes of a surreal nature are common in both. Like with American McGee’s vision of Alice in Wonderland, there is also a sinister undertone to this game.
A psychological exploration game
In this Illusion: A Tale of the Mind game, the player takes control of Emma, a young girl who is trapped inside the mind of a mad man. The mind-world is fractured between festering wounds and old memories, and Emma must find her way through to save her father. Despite the sinister nature of the world, Emma will encounter beautiful scenes on her travels.
Puzzle-solving
Though the game is not technically a “point and click” puzzle game, it has a very similar style and should appeal to fans of that genre. Many of the puzzles are visual, requiring the player to have the camera in a particular position to solve, while clues will be given as to the solution. Part of the gameplay requires finding hidden glass shards, which can be difficult to locate.
An interesting game, not without problems
Players have reported that the game sometimes allows important puzzle-solving things to occur off-camera, making it sometimes frustrating. Still, for fans of puzzle games and those who enjoy a detailed narrative, this game may be an interesting prospect.
