Transform digital photos into music
In the world of software you find apps that are handy, apps that are interesting and apps that are… well, a bit pointless, but attractive nonetheless!
This is the case of i2sm, one of the weirdest programs I’ve come across in the last few months. i2sm creates a MIDI audio file based on any picture you load in the program. The program analyzes the image pixel by pixel, turning their brightness, color and saturation values into musical notes. Yes: basically, what i2sm does is transform images into music.
The melodies created by i2sm are generally quite abstract and hard to appreciate – at least for me. But in any case, it’s a fun way to experiment with photos and music. Who knows, maybe you find the perfect sample you were looking for!
i2sm includes some configuration options to tweak audio settings: minimum and maximum notes, instrument, tempo and more. You can also use any of the program’s included settings templates, but you can’t save your settings as new templates.
With i2sm you can do your own experiments in transforming digital photos into music.
