Classic single-player FPS game
HeXen: Beyond Heretic is a single-player platform that immerses users in a terrifying world of undead characters and evil demons. Players will need to explore extensive underworld environments, battle powerful enemies, and equip themselves with unique weapons if they ever hope to vanquish Lord Korax.
This game boasts many of the same perspectives and visual elements attributed to traditional FPS bullet hell platforms, such as the original Heretic. Initially designed for the N64 entertainment system, users now have the ability to unlock action-packed gameplay in a matter of seconds.
More than a standard FPS
While this is indeed a first-person shooter, it represents much more in terms of exploration and fantasy-based gameplay. Non-linear level layouts, hidden lairs, traps, and puzzles will force players to think outside of the proverbial box. These also provide an additional layer of depth to the overall experience.
A more advanced version of Heretic
HeXen shares many qualities in common with Heretic in terms of player mechanics, graphics, and character classes. While indeed revolutionary when they were first introduced, these qualities still provide a great deal of entertainment.
Unique character classes
One impressive feature of this game involves the characters that players can select. These include a mage, a cleric, and a warrior. Each is associated with its own strengths and weaknesses. It is also possible to customize them with powerful weapons during gameplay.
Old-school fun and first-person excitement
HeXen: Beyond Heretic is on par with many of the first-person shooters that defined the late 1990s and the early 2000s. Boasting an ambiance comparable to other well-known platforms, such as DOOM 64, this game offers a retro flavor alongside all of the FPS shoot ’em up gore that fans have come to expect.
