A supernatural 2D action roguelike
Have a Nice Death is a premium action game for PC developed by Magic Design Studios. In this 2D platformer, players will play as Death, who is overworked dealing with employees causing mayhem. With his vacation plans on the line, he must take up his trusty scythe, show them who is boss.
Similar to Death’s Door, Have a Nice Death features a supernatural theme that explores the concept of the afterlife in fun and interesting ways. Players will experience fast-paced action that is wrapped inside a dark and atmospheric world that utilizes completely hand-drawn art.
It ain’t easy being Death
In Have a Nice Death, you will be put in the shoes of the grim reaper himself. It’s not as fun as you might think, though. The ‘ol God of Death has been feeling overworked and burnt out lately, so he decides to go on vacation. However, his plan is being threatened by employees gone rampant, upsetting the balance of souls in the realm.
Armed with your scythe, you will be teaching your underlings a lesson and bringing order back. Prepare yourself for some fast-paced hack-and-slash action with over 30 weapons and skills to unlock. What’s more, you can upgrade and combine them in unique ways to dish out even more deadly attacks. You don’t die (obviously) in the game, and instead, you receive performance reviews that grant you bonuses for your next attempt.
The game also features a curse system that grants you a variety of perks, which can be either good or bad. It adds a nice dose of unpredictability and challenge to the gameplay. One thing to be aware of before you jump in is that the game is in early access and is still in active development. Hence, expect more changes to arrive with future updates.
Save your vacation
If you’re a fan of action platformers, with hack-and-slash action and a wide array of weapons, give Have a Nice Death a go. It is definitely something new to try out. It features hand-drawn art, solid combat and customization possibilities, and has a quirky and funny narrative. It’s not a complete game yet, but hopefully, the full release arrives soon. Recommended.
