Physiological horror action FPS

Get Even is an action thriller game with elements of an FPS. Black is a hired gun who, after a failed rescue mission involving a girl, wakes up in an asylum and must relive his memories with the help of a mysterious man known as Red.

Reliving the past

Get Even is an interesting title with a mixture of gameplay styles. Part FPS, part walking simulator and part horror, this unique mixture works well in practice despite being a little uneven at times. Black, the main protagonist, is locked in a mental hospital and must don a kind of virtual reality headset to unlock his memories and find out exactly what happened during his failed mission. The game is heavily focused on story and suspense and so should not be spoiled by learning too much straight away. Plot developments are based on the player’s actions and hunting for hidden clues. Get Even is engaging initially but falls into a disappointing repetition as it progresses. Combined with below average textures and graphics, it has problems alongside its strengths.

Strong start

Get Even is a clever game bogged down by development issues and an extremely short length. While the story will fascinate some, it generally becomes something of a bore towards the end.
