Help your hands by cutting clicks

I can’t even begin to guess how many times a day I use my mouse to click on things. What I can guess, however, is how painful it would be if I had some hand or arm injury, such as Repetitive Strain Injury or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. GentleMouse is an application designed for precisely this type of problem – it aims to help make using a computer a pain-free experience.

It’s not a difficult program to use, but it does take a little getting used to – once GentleMouse is activated, it works by waiting until you hover the mouse over a specific spot. When you do, a small window appears. If you want to click, you move to the window and hover over it. This will display click options – right-click, double-click etc. – and when you hover over the option you want, it will be carried out. This might sound a little complicated, but it’s really not. Watch the video on the website and take a few minutes to experiment and GentleMouse will become second nature.

GentleMouse allows you to carry out all the mouse actions you can normally do, from selecting and copying to pasting and scrolling. The app is very customizable – you can change everything from the color and font of the click options to how quickly the whole process takes place. The great thing about GentleMouse is that it doesn’t disable normal mouse usage – it merely provides you with a non-click option.

GentleMouse is a must-try option for people who have problems clicking.
