A software to play the piano on your computer
Real pianos are very expensive nowadays. If there are people who want to learn how to play the piano, they might get discouraged because they would be compelled to pay such exorbitant prices for a piano. Thankfully, there’s no need to spend that much just to play the piano because there are software that you can use to play the piano on your computer. The Free Virtual Piano by Media Freeware is an example of those kinds of software. Is it effective for playing music?
All About Simplicity
The Free Virtual Piano is all about simplicity but it doesn’t sacrifice functionality. The installation process was fast and easy. There were no additional processes and downloads. It also doesn’t force you to install additional programs as a bundle. Once the installation process is finished, you’ll be taken to the program at once.
The interface and design of the software are straightforward. It’s literally a piano with options at the top. There are some additional decorations that just adds to the classy look of the piano. There are also speakers at the side of the options, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Since it doesn’t really do anything, I don’t think it’s a point against the program, and I’d even consider it a lovely decoration to really inspire you to make music.
Musically Sound?
All this talk about the installation and interface of the program is good and all, but the really important thing about this program is that it can produce good music. In that respect, the results are a bit mixed. The music that the program produces is actually pretty good. It simulates the sound of a piano quite well. The big problem is that if you start pressing keys quickly, the program can’t seem to keep up and the sound just abruptly ends. It’s a bit jarring and really takes me out of the piano playing experience.
Minor Observations and Suggestions
For such a simple program, there are a lot of things it got right and just as many it got wrong. For example, there is a bar that displays the note of the key the user presses. That’s not bad, but it would have been so much more efficient just to have the individual keys labeled. You also cannot customize the placement and assignment of the keys. Fortunately, you can install an external device so the key placement and assignment shouldn’t be that big of a problem. Another great feature is that you can record the music you make on this program.
Worth It For a Good Time
It’s not a revolutionary or powerful program, but it does its function well. There are a lot of aspects about this program that could be improved, but it’s still worth it. Don’t expect to be able to make great music with this program. However, if you’re only in it for the fun and games, it’s a worthwhile download. I guarantee that you’ll be wasting a lot of time on this program.
Play a virtual piano using mouse or keyboard
Virtual Piano is a free software that allows you to play and record songs, by simulating a real piano. It has a very stylish interface, displaying a beautiful piano with keys you can click on. After you play for a while, you realise that all of the piano keys are mapped to your keyboard, ranging from 1 to m (that would be 1 to 9, 0, q to p, a to l, z to m). Also, if you are on a selected key, pressing space will play that sound.
