Forum Feeder: A Forum Monitor for Chrome
Forum Feeder is a forum monitor for Chrome developed by nothize. This Chrome extension is still in slow development and draws inspiration from the StockMate extension. Currently, it only supports the “discuss” forum in Hong Kong.
The main aim of Forum Feeder is to intelligently monitor forums and provide users with a quick listing view without the hassle of complex HTML, flash, or animated GIF rendering. While it does not aim to replace the forum’s front-end, it always provides links for users to directly jump back to the forum for further interaction.
Updates to Forum Feeder include dynamic popup height relative to window height, the ability to retrieve an arbitrary number of threads with multiple page reading support, and fixes for forum id link extraction. The extension also features a simple monitoring algorithm, using badges to show new posts and an option page for basic preferences.
Road maps for future updates include tracking of visited groups and presenting them as choices in the popup view, using badges to show the total number of new posts, adding an option page for more preferences, and monitoring specific groups, users, and threads.
Useful tips for using Forum Feeder include right-clicking on the extension icon to open the option page and examining the fid to monitor groups other than the programming group.
