A city-building strategy game for mobile

Forge of Empires is a free strategy video game developed by InnoGames GmbH for mobile devices. It is a city-building game that challenges players to build and establish an empire through the ages. Start from humble beginnings, during the time of ancient civilization, all the way to the future.

Much like the ever-popular Clash of Clans, Forge of Empires will have you start building your empire from the ground up. Manage your resources carefully, plan your building constructions smartly, and help your kingdom thrive. You can also compete in PvP battles to test your mettle against other players.

What is Forge of Empires?

Forge of Empires started as a browser-based strategy game back in 2012. It slowly grew in popularity and was eventually released on mobile platforms soon after. It features gameplay that is similar to the likes of SimCity and Clash of Clans while adding some of its own elements of turn-based strategy mechanics into the mix.

What makes Forge of Empires stand out is that it incorporates a concept of continuity and evolution in its gameplay. You play it just like many other city-building games, but you also progress through various eras during your time. You begin your journey during ancient civilization, but you will slowly make your way to modern times and even the near future.

This strategy game has all the bases covered, such as resource and building management, trading, R&D, and even multiplayer PvP—all these mechanics work well. There are also special events that give out nice prizes and rewards. Having said all of this, progressing through the game can take a long time unless you opt to spend a little to speed things along.

A good city-building strategy game

All in all, Forge of Empires is good, with solid game mechanics, and progressing through time makes for more engaging gameplay. PvP battles are there to provide a bit of challenge and change of pace. You’re going to invest a fair bit of time to make progress, though, but it would be worth it.
