Premium cowboy fantasy game
Evil West is a paid action game that combines elements of western and fantasy to immerse players in a new, fast-paced shooting experience. You are thrown into a world where darkness is creeping across the American frontier. Playing as a Van Helsing-style cowboy, you are a member of an age-old secret society with various weapons and gadgets. Play solo or multiplayer in a story-driven experience.
The difficulty scaling might not be welcoming for players new to the genre, but Evil West is a promising action game worth the adjustments. It’s like a cross between Red Dead Redemption II and RedFall.
Be the new Vampire Hunter
Similar to the film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Evil West lets you fight vampires and save the United States. Set in the Old West, you find the American frontier slowly falling into darkness. It also brings various myths and legends, a mix of European and Native American in nature, and recreates them in a new style that complements the fast-paced gameplay.
Aside from the assortment of weapons and gadgets common to the archetype, a signature weapon in this game is a lightning-powered gauntlet. All these elements allow you to customize your character progress in a way that suits your playstyle. Whether you prefer kiting and sniping from a distance or getting up close and personal, the game has a set of skills and weapons for you.
While it has a premise that is instantly endearing to action and shooter fans, the story is a little light and could use more on character development and world development. It is a minor improvement, should a future update work on it. The game is heavy on the action, enough that most players won’t be looking for too much cinematic story, like the kind offered by RDR2.
Adrenaline-pumping Van Helsing experience
While there are a lot of undead-themed games and those based on the Wild West, Evil West makes a good case for combining the two. With an immersive fantasy-frontier world, despite lacking deeper world-building, you’ll definitely have a blast. Replayability is even incentivized in this game because the different builds are about as good as the other. With a game like this, an expansion is almost inevitable. Recommended.
