Collect the keys and escape 2020
Escape 2020 is a free action video game from independent developer Hewco. Here, you will take control over an obscure human-like character who needs to escape the rooms of 2020 by collecting keys and finding the exit. However, the task will not be easy. There will be monsters roaming the rooms, and there aren’t looking to help you. Blast them away and get the keys because if you bumped into them, your game ends.
How to play the game
At first glance, Escape 2020 looks like the classic game Pac-Man, with gameplay being very similar having players control a creature around the game field. As noted, the goal is to collect the keys and escape the field. All this while avoiding the monsters roaming around trying to stop you from reaching your goal. Watch out as you enter any room since you will only be given a second to avoid any monsters that are close by.
There are 44 keys in total, and you need to collect them to clear the game. Escape 2020 is multi-leveled, but that doesn’t mean that you will get a key per room. As you clear more levels, the keys that you need to collect will increase, along with the monsters that you need to avoid. You do have the option to shoot instead of avoiding them. Shooting them is actually more beneficial as it adds points to your score.
Escape 2020 is a game that pays homage to the retro games of the past. From the colorful and pixelated game map to the precise movements of the characters, everything in the game screams 8-bit. However, as games of the same genre, you will find the game repetitive and boring over time. There is not much difficulty, and you won’t probably find any challenging level until you finish the entire game.
Fun for casual gamers
Despite its name, Escape 2020 is a video game that will take you on a trip down memory lane. From the game mechanics to the retro graphics, and the background sounds, everything in the game is meant to pay tribute to the popular games of the past. It will not be a game that will keep you entertained for extended hours, but it can be a great time-killer with its simple yet fun gameplay.
