Keep teachers and students connected with Edmodo
Edmodo is an educational app that makes it easy for teachers and students to share information, update assignments, form groups and communicate. Parents can also use Edmodo to keep track of their child’s progress and find out about events at the school. Students can discuss assignments, share resources and stay abreast of news, schedule changes and more.
Social media meets learning management
Edmodo uses a simple multi-platform interface that draws on the familiar Facebook interface for its inspiration. The main stream feeds updates to students, but posting is organised by class. Students can click through to a separate stream for each class they belong to. Teachers have the most control over the stream, they can create assignments, host files, and send alerts to students. Presentations, reading assignments and lecture notes can all be hosted on a class’s page. The system makes paperless assignments easy, students can upload their completed work and teachers can mark it online. Teachers can even create automated quizzes for students to complete. If you’re familiar with other learning management systems, you’ll see some things familiar about this app, but it isn’t a complete learning management tool — it’s more focused on tracking and managing traditional school coursework, rather than e-learning.
A simple tool for teachers
If you’re an educator, Edmodo can be a useful tool for managing coursework and class participation. It isn’t really useful outside a school context, however.
