The Sandman returns with a vengeance in Dreamscapes: Nightmare’s Heir

Dreamscapes: Nightmare’s Heir is the second game in the Dreamscapes franchise. It continues the narrative from Dreamscapes: The Sandman and includes some forty in-game locations and numerous mini-games.

It was a dark and stormy night…

The story of Nightmare’s Heir is much more disturbing than that of the original episode. After her brush with the Sandman some years before, Laura, our protagonist, no longer has nightmares. That all changes when she envisages her husband, in a state of delirium, falling from a cliff. Predictably, it turns out that he did this under the Sandman’s influence, who is seeking revenge on Laura and those close to her. This time, players must enter the dreamscape of Laura’s spouse, and save him from the clutches of the game’s antagonist.

A wholly satisfying continuation of the Dreamscapes narrative

Nightmare’s Heir is very much based around point and click puzzles, but the developers have clearly placed more emphasis on hidden object gameplay than its predecessor. Players will get much more from this game if they have prior knowledge of the first Dreamscapes episode.
