The iconic gory shooter returns for 2016
Original developer id Software is back with a reboot of Doom, the 1993 game that put first person shooters on the map. The new Doom is something of a throwback to that original, with fast paced demon-blasting action.
Back to Hell
While Doom was dark and gory, and had its jump scares, it was never really a horror game.
You’re in the boots of a musclebound marine, a lone gun against an onslaught of beasts from hell. Enemies are relentless, and the environments we’ve seen so far allow for lots of movement. Adding to this, movement is fast, you have a double-jump, and the ability to survive dropping huge distances. You’ll be making full use of the environments, jumping, strafing, and circling everything Hell can throw at you.
Finish him!
The super shotgun is back, as is the popular chainsaw. Adding to the gore, enemies have a ‘finish’ state just before they die, allowing you to approach them and perform a gross finishing move. In some games that might seem tasteless – but this is Doom, you’re killing demons, and taste is not something you should come here for. Doom is slated for a 2016 release on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
