Reach the top in this robot-themed platformer
Don’t Byte Your Tongue is a free 2D platformer where you will play as an adorable robot that wants to reunite with its lover high up in the sky. In this action game from Daniyal Khan Asif Ghufran, you’ll have to face increasingly difficult challenges as you progress, which can keep you from reaching your goal.
Similar to Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, players will need to make use of their environment in Don’t Byte Your Tongue to reach higher platforms and bounce off of surfaces in order to give them an extra boost.
Easy to learn, difficult to master
Although Don’t Byte Your Tongue’s premise is quite simple and the mechanics are just as easy to learn, it presents a challenge that can leave players feeling incredibly frustrated or wanting to rage when they end up missing a platform and fall back down to the ground. There are only eight levels in this platformer. However, each one has its own unique twists that can have you grasping at straws.
In addition to the eight levels, however, there are also four different game modes with varying challenges and difficulty levels, which gives you even more content to enjoy. Each level also features a number of hidden collectibles that you can gift your significant other as soon as you reach the top. There are a number of NPCs that you can come across that offer helpful advice—and harsh criticism—as well.
All of these are presented in a classic 2D pixel art style that emulates the nostalgic vibe of your classic arcade games. Players can also work to compete against other players all over the world in the competitive cross-platform leaderboards. In order to raise your ranking, you’ll need to finish levels with fewer moves used and less time consumed compared to your competitors.
Don’t get too frustrated
While the incredibly difficult nature of Don’t Byte Your Tongue can be a source of frustration, this is exactly what the game aims to do—so don’t let the adorable visuals fool you. Players aren’t meant to breeze through levels in a snap, so you’ll need to come up with the best strategies to complete the various game modes and levels available.
