An action roguelike miner game for PC
Dome Romantik is a premium action title for PC by developer Bippinbits. It’s a 2D roguelike miner that features pixel graphics that has players establish a dome base, and make their way to the world’s core while collecting resources and facing a variety of hostile lifeforms along the way.
Dome Romantik’s gameplay is a unique blend of base defense, resource mining, and deep exploration similar to that of Terraria. What makes it interesting is its unique approach to base-building. It features dome-like structures that have a direct impact on playthroughs, and this demo lets players experience that for themselves.
The domes
True to its name, the concept of domes play a big role in the overall game and experience in Dome Romantik. These half-shaped spheres serve as your main line of defense against the hostile worlds that you find yourself in. Each one features a unique set of weapons and abilities that will affect how your gameplay will go. What’s more, they feature extensive upgrade paths.
As enemies get tougher, you’ll need to adapt quickly and upgrade your dome, and this is where the mining and exploration aspect of Dome Romantik comes into play. You’ll need precious minerals needed for improvements, and the only way to do this is to mine for them down below. The deeper you burrow, the better resources you’ll find. Be mindful not to venture too far, though.
To add another layer of challenge to the gameplay, your dome’s defenses are not autonomous. This means you’ll have to manually aim and fire at enemies to actually defeat them. Now, if you liked the demo and want to play more, sadly there’s no exact release date for the game yet. You can check its official Steam page for more news and updates, though.
It’s a balancing act
Dome Romantik offers an interesting experience from the get-go. Its gameplay is varied, complex, and has plenty of things to do and account for. The way it utilizes the whole dome as a base concept is also great and is something you don’t see that often. It’s fun, challenging, and is definitely worth a play. Hopefully, the full game comes out soon.
