First-Person Driving Game for Mobile Phone Users

Fans of retro-style driving games from the 1990s will love what Desert Bus has to offer. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the player is forced to drive a bus through various harrowing scenarios while earning points and accumulating road time. The ultimate intention is to traverse 360 miles of barren landscapes to make it home. This platform is actually based off of a ‘minigame’ released in 1995 of the same name.

Main Features and Applications

Desert Bus enables the player to take on the role of a driver navigating through seemingly endless stretches of sand and dust. Controls and gauges are all realistic and there is a night mode which presents even more challenges, as only small portions of the road ahead are visible. The driver is rated on the amount of ‘points’ he or she accumulates as well as the time it takes to make it back to civilisation.

Additional Characteristics

While considered to be simple by modern terms, Desert Bus is often revered by gaming aficionados as being one of the first platforms to attempt to use three-dimensional imaging as well as a more realistic approach to first-person driving. Other features include bugs impacting the windscreen and a fluttering air freshener on the rear-view mirror.
