Retro inspired indie dungeon crawler
Delver is an indie rouge-like dungeon crawler. Jump into an endless RPG experience with retro-styled blocky graphics.
Down the hole
Looking like something which needs a MS-DOS command to start, Delver is a stripped down action RPG experience with little in the way of plot to slow it down. The blocky, jagged graphical style pay homage to early PC titles but with more modern paced action for a game both nostalgic and addictive. Players enter a world of treasure and beasts with the aim to progress as far as possible in the standard permadeath rogue-like mode. While the difficulty certainly ramps the further dungeons are explored, Delver is a more casual experience suitable for occasional runs. Due to the major reliance on RNG for item placement, however, some sections become simply impossible no matter a player’s skill. This becomes a frustration for those playing seriously. Some additional issues become quickly apparent due to poor AI and interface bugs.
Adventure awaits
Delver is something of a mixed bag. While the idea of the ultimate stripped down dungeon crawler is fine in theory, the reality is a fairly dull game with some major issues.
