Fight against the living in this online game
Deadhaus Sonata is a free-to-play online action and role-playing video game wherein you play as an undead creature this time and fight off the living instead. Developed by Apocalypse Studios, this dark 3D co-op game features procedural generation, a narrative-driven story, asymmetric cooperative gameplay, and interactive streaming integration.
As a game from the developers of Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness, Deadhaus Sonata is centered around a violent and bloody world filled with lasting conflicts between the living and the undead. It offers numerous undead classes that you can control and 6-player parties to challenge its grim world.
The darkness is your ally
Deadhaus Sonata is considered the spiritual successor to Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and will feature elements that had to be canceled for LoK. Here, you play as a member of Deadhaus, which is at war with the still-living humans and other creatures who pose a threat to your kind in the world of Malorum. There are 7 playable classes available: Vampires, Ghouls, Revenants, Liches, Wights, Banshees, and Wraiths.
The combat system here emphasizes fast-paced visceral action—letting you overwhelm enemies with either magic or melee attacks. As an online co-op title, you’re allowed to join hands with up to 6 other people and even let others help you by just watching. This is thanks to its cloud-first gaming feature, which offers Twitch integration similar to that of Hyper Scape. It also brings in a cool procedurally-generated adventure.
The game’s continuous development is also highly community-driven. This notably comes in the form of Ages, which are eras or alpha and beta versions of the game that let players help build the world of Malorum—filling it with characters, quests, and even legendary weapons. Take note that access to Ages is a one-time purchase and won’t be available after a set date.
Glory to the House of the Dead
Deadhaus Sonata brings in numerous interesting and refreshing features that you won’t often find in online games. It has 6-player asymmetrical co-op gameplay, as well as a procedurally-generated world and the ability to have Twitch viewers help you play the game. Plus, it offers players the chance to mold the first few Ages of its world. While this part requires payment, the game is free for its full release.
