Dress-up sports game
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune is a sports video game published by Koei Tecmo. The second installment of the Dead of Alive spin-off series, this app will have you control various female characters as they laze away on an island. It offers multiple gameplay modes and includes mini-games.
Despite its name, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune actually does not feature any death-defying mechanics. In fact, it is also a dress-up game as it entails you dressing up the girls with swimsuits you unlock. However, more than the lack of action, the game also tends to be repetitive.
What is the game about?
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune is a game that combines sports, dress-up, and even casino. Played from a third-person’s perspective, it takes you to a paradise island called Zack Island. Here, players will spend time playing various mini-games to earn money. Included in the list of games you can play are beach volleyball, pool-hopping, rock climbing, and tug-of-war. Every game has simple gameplay, which you can finish in minutes.
As mentioned, there are different modes here. You can play the Girl Mode, where you can take direct control of the girl you selected. There is also an Owner Mode, where you can be the island owner and initiate various activities with the girls. However, whichever mode you prefer, the end goal is to earn money and XP to unlock new swimsuits for your chosen girls.
Visual-wise, it is evident that the developers focused more on the art rather than the game itself. The characters are finely detailed. The new physics also allows for more outlandish body reactions than Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. Additionally, the environment, while sparse, is extremely colorful. However, the design could not hide the lackluster gameplay. None of the mini-games offered are fun enough to keep you entertained longer.
Should you play it?
All in all, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is a game you can play if you are into mature dress-up simulators. Although it has various mini-games, it has a simple end game, and there is no real way to lose. It has fewer characters than its predecessor, but it has a better art style and physics. However, expect repetitive gameplay that can be boring over time.
