The Day of the Dead, also known as Dia de los Muertos, is a Mexican holiday that takes place every year from October 31 to November 2. This holiday is similar to All Souls Day and Halloween. Unlike Halloween, which is a dark night of terror and mischief, Day of the Dead celebrations take place over two days and are a burst of color and life-affirming fun. People in Mexico and some cultures around the world commemorate the day by gathering family and friends, and remembering deceased loved ones. This special day is usually marked by the use of their well-known imagery, such as sugar skulls and Calaveras or skeleton makeup.
