A free sandbox creative building game
Craft City Forrest places you on a small map with several building tools and allows you to build using blocks with different textures. It calls itself a sandbox survival game because you battle a small number of enemies, but it is more of a building simulator.
The most obvious comparisons are drawn with Minecraft since the developers copied it heavily. Graphically, it looks like it has taken inspiration from several popular Roblox games. It says “City” in the game’s name, but it works best when you build a single, elegantly designed structure.
Build your own structures
You can build very large structures using blocks. That means you cannot create curves or triangles in this creativity game. Unlike Minecraft, when you place blocks together that have the same texture, then the seams merge to create a smooth surface.
Building is not a quick process
Though you are not slowly placing single bricks, you are not able to quickly stretch and draw your buildings into place. In this game, you can construct buildings faster than you can with Minecraft, but it still takes a lot of patience and precision to get your designs to look correct.
A very closed gameplay experience
It feels like the developers took a small selection of elements they liked from Minecraft and put those elements into a small world to call their own. As a result, it feels far more like a creative simulation game than a survival exploration game. It could use more convenience tools, like a plan-cloning tool.
Adverts can appear during battle situations
This is loosely a survival game because it has zombies to battle. Sadly, the adverts appear at random intervals, which means you may start out fighting a zombie, watch an advert, and return to see that the zombie defeated you.
