Transfer data to your new device
Clone Phone – OnePlus app is a free utility tool for migrating data, such as photos and messages, from one device to another. It supports iOS devices, as well; unfortunately, the data you can move is limited, which is a huge disadvantage. You can also backup files locally or on another device. However, the save paths for local and external backup are different.
Clone Phone – OnePlus app can be frustrating to use due to sudden transfer interruptions, not to mention that it takes several attempts to connect two devices. There is also a transfer limit of 5GB, which is not enough for larger files.
Can migrate most data
Buying a new device feels satisfying, but moving everything to another unit is a tedious process. With the Clone Phone – OnePlus app, you can initiate data transfers with a tap of a button. Those who own OnePlus phones can migrate contacts, messages, media files, system apps, and user apps. The same applies to users who have non-OnePlus Android devices, except that they can only move certain system and user apps.
Individuals with iOS units, however, can only migrate photos and contacts. Regardless of your device’s operating system, you can’t transfer credit card details, fingerprints, passwords, and other security data. Incompatible apps will not be moved, as well. However, keep in mind that your devices need to be around five centimeters apart to ensure speedy transfers. Placing them in close proximity, or at least two meters apart results in slower transfers.
As the migration process is done via mobile hotspot, the app will force you to disable your mobile data and Wi-Fi connectivity. Unfortunately, there’s a chance that this can lead to data transfer issues, which adds to the frustration. In case of interruptions, the app will pause your current progress and will resume so long as you connect your devices within 24 hours.
Mind the limitations
What’s great about the Clone Phone – OnePlus app is it supports both iOS and non-OnePlus Android devices. However, owners of iOS units are at a disadvantage since they can only transfer their contacts and pictures. Data transfer interruptions and device connectivity issues are also the app’s biggest drawbacks. For some users, the 5GB limit is a dealbreaker—limiting the files you can migrate to your new device.
