Calm Twitter: A Chrome Extension for a Serene Twitter Experience
Calm Twitter is a free Chrome extension developed by Yusuke Saitoh. This extension is designed to provide a more peaceful and focused Twitter experience by hiding trending information from your timeline.
With Calm Twitter, you can remove the “Explore” tab from the left column, as well as hide trends and suggestions to follow from the right column. Additionally, it hides the numbers of replies, retweets, likes, and bookmarks, which only appear when you hover your mouse cursor over a tweet.
To create a serene environment, Calm Twitter also hides view counts and adds a soothing “Calm” label next to the Twitter logo.
For those who desire further customization, Calm Twitter offers additional features that can be enabled from the settings. These features include hiding the number of followers and following, hiding detailed engagement metrics on tweet pages, and even hiding engagement numbers when hovering over tweets. Furthermore, users can choose to hide the “Who to follow” and “Topics to follow” sections. Mac users can also switch the Japanese font from Meiryo to Hiragino.
Calm Twitter requires permission to save settings and operates by simply toggling between hide and show. The source code for this extension is available on GitHub for those who are interested.
