A tongue-in-cheek simulation

CallMeKevin Simulator 2022 is a free simulation game from indie developer Rekijoki Games that depicts a day in the life of YouTuber Kevin O’Reilly, better known as CallMeKevin. The game is tongue-in-cheek and not a true representation of the central character’s life.

Like other ironic simulators, such as Tree Simulator 2023 and Goat Simulator, the sheer existence of CallMeKevin Simulator 2022 is part of its meta humor. With no storyline or objective, the simulator is instead full of references to the YouTuber.

A day in the life of a YouTuber

CallMeKevin Simulator 2022 begins at Kevin’s house. Inside, you’re greeted by familiar faces that fans of CallMeKevin and other popular YouTubers will recognize, including Jacksepticeye, Terroriser, and Daithi De Nogla. You and the other characters are given guns, and it’s up to you to decide how to use them.

Outside of the house, you’ll come across other internet personalities like Anna Rudolf, Kevin’s real-life girlfriend. You’ll also find plenty of references to inside jokes and facts about Kevin, such as cinemas playing movies that have a special meaning to the YouTuber.

Intentionally bad

Aside from references to inside jokes that fans share with the YouTuber, much of CallMeKevin Simulator 2022’s charm comes from its intentionally rudimentary design, graphics, and gameplay. Clearly, a rough mockup made for sharing with fans who would appreciate the humor, CallMeKevin Simulator 2022 is fun to play because of how absurd it is.

Part of its creation was also an attempt to get the YouTuber to acknowledge the game and possibly film himself playing it, as he is best known for his comical gameplay commentaries. This became a reality when the YouTuber uploaded a video of himself doing a walkthrough of the game.

For fans only

When taking into account the graphics, storyline, and humor, it’s clear that CallMeKevin Simulator 2022 is a game that only fans of the YouTuber could love. For them, its meta-humor is a love letter to Kevin’s video style. For everyone else, it’s confusing.
