Become delicious in Cake Bash
Cake Bash is a multiplayer party game in which you and up to three friends play with animated pastries, competing in a series of absurd competitions. The whimsical, fast-paced gameplay recalls other party-action games, like Fall Guys or Gang Beasts.
Cake Bash consists of a range of mini-games. These include free-for-all battles in which players fight while trying to complete a series of food-themed tasks. There are also additional challenges in which players must compete in other ways. Winning challenges earns you coins, which will give you an advantage in the final showdown.
A balance of fun and challenge
Like most party games, Cake Bash has a theme that encourages you not to take the game too seriously. Beating up your friends is fun, and the fact that you’re playing a cupcake that’s battling an eclair adds to its appeal. The cute cartoon dessert characters and the many terrible puns complement the fast-paced, high-energy action of the game. Despite the silliness, however, the gameplay isn’t wholly random.
One example of this is the game’s coin mechanics. Many party games use a similar system in which your performance in mini-games wins you more coins. It can lead to a dull game, as the winner becomes clear early. In Cake Bash, however, coins give you an advantage in the final game rather than a guaranteed win. That makes sure that the last round remains exciting.
A sweet treat
Cake Bash combines a whimsical theme with fast-paced action, pitting you against your friends. The gameplay is accessible, making it easy for new players to pick up quickly. It would be nice to be able to play with a larger group, and the range of unlockable mini-games runs out quickly. Despite these minor reservations, Cake Bash is worth your time if you’re looking for a cute, fast-playing party game.
