Try to survive in a world out to kill you
Burning Daylight is a free horror game designed to be intense, atmospheric, and weird. With easy-to-grasp gameplay, you will have no trouble jumping in. The challenge will be surviving long enough in the brutal sci-fi setting.
Although its aesthetic is rooted in the survival horror genre, Burning Daylight is more akin to puzzle-based games like Machinarium and the classic Another World. Your job is to plow forward, use your wits, and survive the onslaught of enemies.
Find yourself in a horrific location
Burning Daylight opens with the player character waking up in a creepy horror location. Your task is to make your way past the piles of corpses and avoid detection by the deadly machines. Stealth and a strong stomach will be needed to get by if you want to find the answer to the protagonist’s mystery.
Full of morbid atmosphere
The game is driven in large part by its striking visual style. The setting is truly macabre, with mutilated bodies being smashed into a pulp by the very machines that threaten the main character. As well as the enemy-dodging gameplay, horror fans should appreciate the tone and the mysterious story.
Not for children or the sensitive
Although the gameplay in Burning Daylight is fairly straightforward, being a matter of dodging killer machines and finding the door to the next location, the game is not suitable for younger or more sensitive players. The gore and nudity (the main character spends the game unclothed) make sure of this.
Good for one play-through
As with many atmosphere-driven games of this type, Burning Daylight lacks replay value. Once the surprises have been seen and the mysteries cleared up, there is little reason to go back for more. Nonetheless, that first play-through will have plenty to offer anyone looking for a creepy gaming experience.
