City builder game set in ancient Egypt
Builders of Egypt is a premium strategy game developed by Strategy Labs for PC. It is a city builder set in the Nile Valley during ancient Egyptian times. In it, players will take part in the growth and evolution of Egypt during the rule of the Old Kingdom.
Similar to Age of Empires IV or Sid Meier’s Civilizations IV, Builders of Egypt offers an expansive gameplay experience that has players start from scratch and slowly build their way up. It also emphasizes economic development, which is an interesting twist given its theme and setting.
A symbol of Egyptian civilization
When it comes to ancient Egyptian times, no conversation will be complete without mentioning the Great Pyramids. They are essentially one of the greatest symbols of Egyptian civilization and provide a glimpse into its spiritual beliefs and practices. It is no wonder then that these structures are often the point of focus in various historical video games, and Builders of Egypt is one of the more recently made ones.
The game takes place in the Nile Valley and spans the start of the Old Kingdom ‘till the rule of Cleopatra VII. You’ll lay the groundwork for multiple grand developments, one of which will be The Great Pyramid of Giza as you know it today. To achieve that, focus on developing the economy first through urban planning, creating sources of income, and establishing trade and commerce.
Religion will determine how society and its people will conduct themselves. War and battles will also occur frequently, and you need to put up proper defenses, as well as be ready to attack on the Pharaoh’s command. The game is yet to be released, with no exact date when it will come out. You can request early access from the developers, though, but it will be subject to approval.
The Old Kingdom
If you’re a fan of historical games and are intrigued by Egyptian history, Builders of Egypt is an interesting title worth watching out for. It will take you on a journey through the time of the Old Kingdom period, and have you play a hand in the development of society, the economy, and of course, its great structural constructions and endeavors.
