Remind yourself to take a break

BreakTaker is an app designed to remind you to take regular breaks while working on your computer.

Repetitive stress injury and carpel tunnel syndrome are common ailments within the work place as employees forget to get up and stretch once in a while. BreakTaker is a simple application that sits silently in the system tray and reminds you when to take your break.

BreakTaker is a very simple application with only a few options to adjust. You can change how many minutes pass before the next alert, enable/disable sounds, and choose whether to pause the timer when the PC is locked.

While BreakTaker does provide reminders to take breaks, there’s no option to make sure that the user takes his or her break. We would like to see an option where the user can be locked out until a certain amount of time has passed. Without this, it is very easy for the user to ignore BreakTaker’s notification.

BreakTaker is good for giving users a simple pop-up reminder to take breaks, but there aren’t enough advanced features to make sure that users don’t ignore the application.
