Search and download online videos, music and photos
Social networking is great, but it can really eat into your free time. Watching videos online, browsing the most popular photos on Flickr or checking what your friends are up to on all your social networking sites can sometimes feel like a full-time job.
Luckily you can now engage in all these activities and some others from one single program: Bookmash. This AIR-based application provides you with direct access to the newly published material in the most popular video and video sharing sites, social networks, tech news and music communities.
Bookmash presents all these elements together as thumbnail galleries in a slick, attractive interface which somehow reminds me of Apple’s Cover Flow. You can browse content by dragging thumbnails from one side to the other, with a very appealing animated effect.
Besides viewing content, Bookmash also lets you download those videos, photos and tracks you like best. In the case of videos though you’ll need an FLV player, as you’ll get them in their native Flash format. As for the social and news networks, I honestly don’t find them that useful, because you still need to use your Web browser to open up links.
In summary, Bookmash is the perfect app to get a glimpse at the latest content in your favorite photo, video and music websites, but does have one important drawback: it’s surprisingly heavy on resources!
If you spend a lot of time browsing video and photo sharing sites, as well as online social communities, you’ll find Bookmash really helpful.
