Post-apocalyptic anime MMORPG
Blue Protocol is a free-to-play action game coming from the developer Bandai Namco. It is an MMORPG that is set in a post-apocalyptic world and features beautiful cel-shaded graphics. Originally intended as a Japan-exclusive, it was made available to the West via Amazon Games.
Just like Genshin Impact and Code Vein, Blue Protocol is a game that draws inspiration from anime and manga for its art style. It comes with multiple character classes to choose from and a whole slew of monsters to face. All of it is spread across a massive open world waiting to be explored.
Fighting for the future
Blue Protocol takes place in the post-apocalyptic fantasy world of Regnus. The planet was once ruled by a divine tribe and was blessed by the powers of the light called Engram. The once great civilization has been reduced to ruins, revealing a dark secret and its very existence is now being threatened by the awakening of an ancient monster. This is where your adventure begins.
You’re a mysterious warrior on a journey to recover your lost memories. This game boasts five classes to choose from, namely Aegis Fighter, Twin Striker, Blast Archer, Spellcaster, and Heavy Smasher, each with unique abilities. Form a party, plan your tactics, and take on various monsters and beasts across the lands of Regnus in fast-paced RPG-style team combat in real-time.
Sneak peek
A preview of Blue Protocol prior to its official launch gave eager players a glimpse of what they can expect from the much-awaited MMO. The game finally welcomes you to the sprawling world where you will see action. The environment is immersive and engaging, allowing you to go all out during battles. Although there’s not much to expect from its character creator, it is still capable of producing decent avatars.
Apart from the five classes named earlier, a lance-wielding sixth class is in the pipeline. The new addition means changes in the gameplay loop and progression system. Here, the classes shun the traditional trio of DPS, healers, and tanks, and instead opt for creature summons, four active skills, class-agnostic passive abilities, and itemization. Weapons are not tied to classes, so you have to work your way to building your collection.
That’s pretty much all the information available for the game as of now. As mentioned earlier, it will be coming to both Japan and the West. However, there is still no exact release date for when that will be just yet. You can check its official website or Steam page for more news and announcements, which hopefully, will come sooner rather than later.
Slick visuals and solid combat
Wrapping things up, Blue Protocol is sizing up to be an interesting new MMORPG with a beautiful anime art style and solid combat. There are a bunch of characters to choose from and a large map to explore and roam around in. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, it will become available in the West. Keep an eye out for this one.
