Free-to-play medieval-themed MOBA
Blood of Steel is a 3D mobile online battle arena (MOBA) game from YC Games that brings you back to medieval times. A blend of hack-and-slash and real-time strategy mechanics, it needs you to lead your unit of ancient heroes to complete different missions across a variety of game modes. It is a fast-paced tactical competitive game that will challenge you to make the best tactics in order to gain victory over your opponents.
Exhilarating medieval battles
In Blood of Steel, you will take on the role of an Awakeners, a human blessed with the knowledge, personalities, and skills of legendary commanders. With this, you can create a band of heroes that you can lead into an action-packed battle. The game stars warriors from ancient western and eastern civilizations, including Alexander the Great, Julius Ceasar, and Joan of Arc. Together with your unit, you will join a legion war, siege castles, and become a king.
Blood of Steel comes with multiple game modes. Apart from the epic war, you can choose from several PvE and PvP battles. You can choose to play a 5-man co-op campaign, duel arenas, capture-the-flag, siege wars, and guild vs. guild territory wars. In each mode, you will engage in tactical combat that combines both hack-and-slash and real-time strategy where timing, weather, terrain, formation, and many other factors will come into play.
As with games of the same gameplay, you will start off with a few heroes in your arsenal. Over time though, you will start to unlock new ones as you progress through the game and the story. You can also get new cosmetic items that you can use to dress up your team of heroes. However, you will notice that some of these items clash with the medieval theme of the game.
Good but with a lot of issues
Blood of Steel is a good medieval-based strategy game. You get the gritty war action you expect from games of this genre. Despite being a free-to-play game, there are also no significant purchases that you need to win, and team tactics matter more than any individual hero. However, over time, the game can be a little repetitive. The UI is also a bit cluttered, and the app is prone to crashes and freezes.
