A lightsaber and shield VR game
BladeShield gives you a lightsaber and a see-through shield. You are attacked by futuristic robots, and it is your job to slice them in half, to guard against shots, guard against hits and explosions, and to hit some of the shots back at your enemies.
Point scoring is the only goal of the game
BladeShield is not an intense game, it is not a long game, and it doesn’t have a story. The only point of the game is to destroy robots and protect yourself from their various types of attack. Like most of the VR games that came before it, BladeShield is a casual game where you play for the sake of playing. The colours in the game have a very dull and understated tone, and when that is added to the multi-light reflections you see on the robots, it actually works very well. This technique has allowed the developer to make the game look better than the original object skins would normally allow.
Cleverly exploiting a sci-fi favourite
BladeShield gives you a lightsaber, and most sci-fi fans wish they could play with a lightsaber. The fact that it cuts through the robots is icing on the cake. Plus, the idea to make the shield see-through was a very clever idea because you have to rely on the shield quite a bit. The action is subdued enough so that you do not get a headache, but it is consistent enough to keep you focused on the task in hand.
