Beer tasting is one of the most popular and challenging beer-related activities. As a rule, in Germany the term “beer” is used to refer to a liquid beverage that is brewed from fermented grain. In most European countries, the term is used to describe any type of alcoholic beverage, regardless of its production method.

A beer is made by mixing a liquid substance with some kind of grain. This process is known as fermentation. During the process, various types of micro-organisms are introduced into the liquid. The most important of these is the yeast, which is a kind of fungus. In the case of beer, the yeast is the starting material. After the fermentation process, the liquid is passed through a filter, and the filtrate is then bottled or canned. The resulting product is known as beer.

Beer is a popular drink in Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Japan, Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand. In many other countries, the drink is known by different names. For example, in the United States, beer is referred to as “beers”, “lager” or “ale”, while in Sweden and Finland, it is known as “vienna beer”, “lauter” or “pilsner”.
