New pretender to the FPS throne
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the latest in the venerable and popular FPS series. Playing in a team of four war-weary, cynical soldiers in a gripping story that takes them all over the globe, chasing a doomsday device that’s about to fall into the wrong hands.
The main gimmick of Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the destructible scenery, which is much improved in this sequel. It helps to make duck-and-cover combat much more realistic, because simply hiding behind a wall isn’t enough to keep you safe any more.
The single player campaign isn’t the most original, but the story is more coherent than that of Modern Warfare 2, and the variety of levels throughout the game keep it interesting and exciting. There’s a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration, luckily helped by great AI for your computer controlled amigos. You’ll be a sniper, drive trucks, quads and almost freeze to death in the Andes.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 features four multiplayer modes, which may not be a great many, but all are excellently realized. As in the single player game, teamwork is essential, and the games are intense and open, with excellently designed arenas that will keep you coming back for more.
If you’re looking for an action packed, intense shooter experience, Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a great choice, and some will certainly prefer it over Modern Warfare 2!
